Canada Student Visa FAQs
Most programs longer than 6 months require a study permit. Shorter programs may not, depending on your situation.
SDS is a streamlined path for eligible countries and typically needs a GIC, upfront tuition payment, and an approved language test. Non-SDS follows the standard checklist.
Work authorization depends on IRCC policy and your permit conditions. When eligible, off-campus work is allowed within limits.
Spouses and dependants may be eligible for visas/permits based on program length and eligibility (e.g., SOWP options).
Graduates of eligible programs may apply for a PGWP. With Canadian experience, many pursue PR via CEC or PNP.
